Terms of Use
Terms for a local-first learning app.
These Terms explain how you may use Piko, including local learning on your device, optional Apple-managed purchases, widgets, and permission-based features.
Overview
These Terms of Use apply to your access to and use of Piko. By downloading, installing, or using Piko, you agree to these Terms and to any additional terms that apply through Apple's App Store.
If Piko does not provide a custom end-user license agreement in App Store Connect, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement may apply to the app alongside these terms and Apple's App Store rules.
Using Piko
Piko is a language-learning app that helps you review daily words, examples, pronunciation, progress, and widgets. You are responsible for how you use the app and for keeping your device and Apple Account secure.
Piko may change, improve, or remove features over time. Some features may require a supported device, supported operating-system version, or an active purchase entitlement.
Learning content
Piko is provided for general language-learning and habit-building purposes. The app may include translations, example sentences, pronunciation aids, reminders, widgets, and progress indicators, but it does not guarantee perfect accuracy or suitability for every learning goal.
Local data and device responsibility
Piko is designed so learning progress and preferences are stored locally on your device. If you delete the app, reset your device, disable backups, or change devices, local app data may be lost unless Apple device backup or another operating-system feature preserves it.
Because Piko does not currently provide an account or cloud-sync service, Piko cannot guarantee recovery of local learning data.
Device permissions and widgets
Some features may ask for device permissions or system capabilities, including background fetch, notifications, or widget-related access. You can control these permissions through your device settings.
Widgets, notifications, and background updates may not always refresh immediately or be available on every device, operating-system version, or system configuration.
Paid features and in-app purchases
Paid access, including any subscription, lifetime purchase, or other in-app purchase, is handled through Apple's App Store in-app purchase system. Prices, taxes, renewal timing, trials, and billing terms are shown by Apple before purchase and may vary by country or region.
If Piko offers an auto-renewable subscription, it renews automatically unless you cancel it through your Apple Account before the renewal date. Apple manages cancellation, billing, and refund requests.
Refunds and cancellations
To cancel a subscription, use Apple Account subscription settings. To request a refund for an App Store purchase, use Apple's reportaproblem.apple.com process. Refund eligibility is determined by Apple and may vary by country, region, and applicable consumer-protection laws.
License and ownership
Piko, including its design, text, artwork, code, and other materials, is owned by its developer or licensors. Subject to these Terms and Apple's applicable rules, you receive a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use the app on devices you own or control.
No warranties
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Piko is provided as is and as available. Piko does not promise that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, perfectly accurate, or available on every device or operating-system version.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Piko will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunities arising from use of the app.
Changes to these Terms
Piko may update these Terms when the app changes, when paid features change, or when legal or platform requirements change. The updated version will show a new effective date.
